POST SHOOT INTERVIEW WITH GABRIELLE CURRENT
Damaged / Goods: What led you to originally pursue a career in modeling?
Gabrielle Current: I first signed to an agency when i was 5 years old. i loved taking pictures, meeting new people and being on set over school. starting at such a young age really fueled a passion to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. now that i'm pursuing the entertainment industry more seriously with modeling and my music, i find so much joy in creating pictures. i love telling stories in both the pictures i take and the songs i sing. modeling becomes more of an art to me when i'm able to become a character in the shoot. this is why i loved shooting with Julia (the Russian doll) so much because she inspired me to become someone i'm not used to portraying in the photos we created.
Damaged: Who would you say is your ultimate fashion inspiration?
Gabby: I'm 1/4 Korean, and i take a lot of pride in that. i try to embrace my Korean side more by exploring their style because Korean Street wear is so funky and cool to me, my style is primarily very urban with a mix of girly details. For example, I'll wear a delicate silk jumpsuit with my Vans.
Damaged: Favorite fashion brands?
Gabby: One of my favorite designers right now is Poppy Lissiman. She has the most unique accessories that are so quirky and stylish. For clothes I love the brands Realisation Par and Urban Outfitters Europe.
Damaged: In terms of music, who are your top artists of the moment?
Gabby: Right now Alina Baraz, Tom Misch, and Daniel Caesar heavily inspire the music I make. Corinne Bailey Rae and Amy Winehouse constantly inspire me as a vocalist as well.
Whats your damage?
Gabby: Being able to chase my ambitions everyday and dedicate all of my time to my craft required me to go against the grain. I wanted to fully pursue this industry, which meant not going to college immediately after high school. Many people looked down on me, but I don't regret it for a single second because I'm getting to do what I love everyday and am experiencing the joy of my dreams coming true.
