INTERVIEW WITH MODEL EMILY STEEL
Damaged / Goods: What led you to originally pursue a career in modeling?
Emily Steel: I traded stocks and bonds on Wall St. For years, and after the 2008 crash it was quite difficult to keep serving the bougoise capitalist overlords. I took a step back and said "Hey, what the hell, take my photo."
Damaged: Who would you say is your ultimate fashion inspiration?
Emily: Jim West, Will Smith's character in the beloved 1999 film Wild Wild West
Damaged: Favorite fashion brands?
Emily: Venetemenentes is the vanguard, but also staples like Gochocha Rubinchinchini and FrootBoot of the Loom
Damaged: In terms of music, who are your top artists of the moment?
Emily: Honestly, I hate music. But Lately I've been recording the mating cats outside my window and playing that on top of Lil Kim Instrumentals. It's hype.
Whats your damage?
Emily: I was an orange belt for 3 years. I just couldn't get to green. So frustrating. Then I walked in to a TJ Max, and I saw a whole rack of green belts. I bought one. Moral of the story is, don't buy your green belts, your sensei will be pissed.
