POST SHOOT INTERVIEW WITH PHOTOGRAPHER NOEMI SZABO
Damaged / Goods :What led you to originally pursue a career in photography & the visual arts ?
Noémi SzaboI: I grew up in a family with lots of photographers and creative people, my father was a big influence on me with his camera when I was a child.
Damaged: Who would you say is your ultimate inspiration ?
Noémi:One of my biggest inspiration in photography is Sarah Moon. Her blurry, almost painting-like work is just touching and reminds me always of fairytales.
Damaged: How would you describe your personal aesthetic ?
Noémi:With my photography I'm following Yamamotos famous words "I think perfection is ugly. I want to see scars, failure, disorder, distortion."
I was tired to see so many various over-retouched fashion photography and wanted to show more "pureness". I always tell my models that they won't look beautiful in my pictures, at least not that kind of beautiful the media and our society taught us, but beauty in another way.
Damaged: Is there a message you are trying to convey through your visuals ?
Noémi: I just want to create cool pictures.
Damaged: In terms of music, who are your top artists of the moment ?
Whats your damage ?
Noémi: I was confronted with death already as teenager and life took already some of my friends with young age. I think that the hardest part in my life was a few years ago when my dad had a tumor and we didn't knew how long he would be still alive. Luckily everything went well and he is still here. I think that might be one of the reasons many of my pictures have a dark and melancholic feel but romantic touch.
